Outdoor vows and the two things that ruin them

Outdoors there is no ceiling and no walls, which means no reflections helping you. Every bit of sound a guest hears has to be delivered directly, and Central Florida provides a breeze to argue with.

Wind

Wind noise is a microphone placement problem before it is an equipment problem. Positioning, angle and shielding solve most of it. What does not solve it is turning the vocal up, which turns the wind up with it.

Distance

Guest seating outdoors spreads wider than it does indoors and the back row is further away than anybody estimates. Coverage is planned for the last chair, not the middle of the block.

If the back row cannot hear the vows, they were not part of the ceremony.
